JING’s Okayti Estate Darjeeling Tresor Black Tea is one of the finest and highest quality teas I have tasted.
The dry leaves, which have fuzz that I have only seen on white tea buds, are green, brown and golden strands with the delicate and faint scent of cocoa. The addition of water produces a slight vegetable aroma and golden liquor with a smell I cannot place and would not normally associate with tea.
The tea is incredibly full bodied and has one of the smoothest tastes I have experienced. The JING website identifies it as muscatel. There is a total absence of bitterness or astringency. I usually enjoy black teas with cream, but this nectar stuck me as being too good to defile. This is the first tea I prefer plain (although it was also fantastic with cream).
I steeped these leaves twice and got a perfect cup of tea both times. I enjoyed the first cup a bit more as it had greater body. In both cases I steeped one teaspoon of tea in eight ounces of water for three minutes.
Words do not do these tealeaves justice. Okayti Estate Darjeeling Tresor Black Tea is a transformational experience and a tea you must taste to believe.
