Zhejiang is the most famous province in China for green tea production. China's most famous tea - Dragon Well (Long Jing), is produced in the hills around West Lake in Hangzhou.
Zhejiang borders Jiangsu and Shanghai to the north, Anhui to the northwest, Jiangxi to the west and Fujian to the south. Historically and upto the present day, Zhejiang has been renowned for its prosperity and beauty. During the Southern Song dynasty (1127-1279), Hangzhou was the established capital and a hub of trade and commerce.
Zhejiang has a humid, subtropical climate with four distinct seasons. Spring is rainy and changeable, followed by a long, hot and humid summer, dry and warm autumn and a brief but cold winter.
Zhejiang cuisine is famous for its sweet, fresh flavours and for its use of fish, rice and fresh vegetables including eel, carp, bamboo shoot, lotus root and sometimes even tea leaves.
