The dark green buds are pressed into long thin needles, with a light, just mown grass fragrance. “Grassy” is the best word to describe this tea. I brewed one tablespoon in a cup of 175F water for four minutes, (which, upon checking the purveyor’s directions, was a minute too long.) Once infused, the mown grass fragrance of the pale green liquor was a bit grassier, and the flavor followed suit. It is, as the purveyor describes, “thick, with a rich grassy texture.” It had a very pleasant tactile effect in the mouth. The aftertaste was sweet, with a somewhat bitter aftertaste, but in a pleasant way, but perhaps because of the over steeping.

The buds were open now, revealing small, slender leaf clusters. I infused the second pot for three minutes, which produced a pale green liquor that has a more floral fragrance—meadow flower, according the JING site—and a sweeter taste with much less bitter aftertaste. Be careful with infusion time.

All in all this is a very satisfying green, organic, and fair trade. That all adds up to a good tea in my book. Another quality offering from this company.
