Wuyi Oolong

The Wuyi Mountains of Fujian province are at the heart of China's oolong tea production. Grown in mineral-rich soils, the teas produced here are abundant in flavour and complexity. There are numerous cultivars of the tea plant used to create this style of oolong, with each one offering a unique nuance of flavour, expertly teased out by the masters who produce them. This season's Wuyi Oolong is Yellow Rose (Huang Meigui), which is rich and autumnal with fragrant notes of rose and peach, and a sublime texture.

The perfect cup

  • Measure 4g or 3tsp per cup (250ml)
  • Heat water to 100°C
  • Infuse tea for 3 minutes
  • You can re-infuse this tea twice

    Beautiful roasty tea

    This is a warm hug in a cup. A roasty and earthy flavor but not overpowering. And a hint of cacao and caramel at the back with a soft and buttery feel. Very welcoming on a chilly rainy day.

    Roasted rich goodness

    This was a lovely batch with everything I look for in a good Wuyi - buttery and chocolatey/nutty roasted richness, lifted by floral and fruit notes. Good for multiple infusions too. A shame it is now out of stock. Here's hoping there'll be more available soon!

    A very pleasant drink

    While I found this tea a very pleasant drink, it was not the type of tea i enjoy most, preferring Red Dragon.

    While we are glad that you like our Red Dragon, we are sorry that you haven’t enjoyed our Wuyi Oolong as much. The Wuyi is more floral than fruity. If you wanted to try something different, maybe give Yunnan Gold a try, it is a bit different, but it is another black tea from Yunnan, but this one is very rich and chocolatey.

    Like it.

    I'd say without a shadow of doubt I know nothing about tea. I thought you bought in boxes of 240 and had it with milk and sugar. Recently got introduced to Oolong teas, and the process of infusions. This is lovely. Fully recommended.

    Smooth warmness

    This nice example of Shui Xian has everything you would expect from a good Wuyi oolong. The rule is multiple infusion, since it's the best way to experience the complexity of this kind of tea.The first infusion is pure warmness. The roasted flavour and the clear orange colour are very suggestive of a fireplace. it's very comforting and it envelopes your tongue in sweetness and you would not find the refreshing bitterness of fresh oolongs.Next infusions have a milder roasty taste while a subtle sweet floral note emerges slightly. This is the very beauty of this tea and it's what makes Wuyi oolong teas so surprising.
