Genmaicha

玄米茶

Genmaicha has historically been regarded as rustic tea with a hearty and enjoyable flavour. The Japanese word Genmaicha (literally, brown rice and tea) refers to the addition of rice to a green tea base. For our version of this much loved tea, we have used an equal 50:50 balance of high quality mochigome rice to bancha green tea. The warm, toasted flavour of the puffed white rice kernels floating on toasted brown rice, is perfectly complemented by deep steamed tea leaves that are highly regarded for their umami flavour and rich texture.
