NEW 2021 Organic Darjeeling 1st Flush Supreme

Fragrant, Sweet, Reviving From Badamtam Estate, Darjeeling, India Crafted by Tea Maker Subroto Sen

Picked in early spring, this crisp, quenching and uplifting tea expresses the unique Darjeeling terroir, with zesty spring freshness and high floral aromas that make way for a fruitiness in the taste.

NEW 2021 Organic Darjeeling 1st Flush Supreme

This small batch of "clonal" style first flush 2021 was created exclusively for JING. Tea maker Subroto Sen knows exactly what we were looking for, so produced a very tippy batch for us from the AV2 clone. This tippy nature and the great production conditions mean the tea is very delicate and floral with distinct fruitiness and a syrupy character. It’s satisfying and refined – perfect for a late morning or afternoon pick-me-up. Overlooking the scenic Kangchenjunga mountains, Badamtam Garden sits at an altitude of more than 1,000m, where a thick mist keeps the tea plants fully hydrated and protected from harsh sunlight.

  • Cultivar - Camellia sinensis var. sinensis
  • Picked - 26th March – 3rd April 2021
  • Oxidisation level - 30%

    Wonderfully peachy, perfect summer drinking

I'm new to real Darjeeling having always believed it to be a far darker, smokier tea than this light, fragrant long leafed first flush. Amber nectar, with peach and floral overtones. Refreshing afternoon tea but also delicious brewed and left to chill. I made a second pot from the once-brewed leaves, which I steeped in fresh fruits for a few hours and served ice cold.
