The Origin Story

An excellent introduction to this connoisseur tea category. The tea leaves are briefly steamed in 2009 to help mould them into these beautiful cakes before being wrapped in cloth, pressed and set aside to mature and develop their flavours. 7 years on, during which those sought after sweet tobacco and sandalwood notes have gradually matured, we have the pleasure of offering this pu erh to our customers.

China - Yunnan

Yunnan is the true home of puerh tea and is also known for rich black teas

Comprised of tea leaves picked in Banzhang village in 2003 and spring teas picked between 2004-2006 from across Yunnan's wild ancient tea forests. Tea leaves, from trees that can be over 1,000 years old, are masterfully combined and pressed to produce the complex aromas of the most balanced pu erhs.

What to
Look For

Moderately compacted large whole intact leaves, characteristic of those picked from remote and uncultivated trees.


Rich, forest rain and light tobacco aromas, hints of propolis.
