Our single cultivar Organic Ceremonial Grade Matcha is produced in Kirishima, in the south of Japan's Kyushu island. The area is overlooked by Sakurajima, an active volcano which periodically covers the area in white ash, making the terroir superbly fertile. Each spring, small batches of Okumidori tea leaves are picked and stone-milled to order using the traditional Mikage method. This results in a fine matcha powder with vivid flavour and a vibrant green colour; a true testament to its supreme freshness.
