Black Tea

Organic Cherrywood Lapsang

Smoke, Incense, Malty From Yunnan, China
Our reinvention of Lapsang Souchong is an Organic Chinese black tea smoked over cherrywood in the UK. Inspired by traditional lapsang from the Wuyi Mountains, we’ve combined the natural smoky notes and richness of Yunnan black tea with sweetly aromatic smoke from cherrywood to create a exquisitely smooth lapsang experience.

Organic Cherrywood Lapsang

正山小种

Smoked black tea has been arriving from China since the early days of tea clippers, when it was known as Bohea tea - the spelling in local dialect for Wuyi Mountains. Our Cherrywood Lapsang takes a black tea from Yunnan Province, China and pairs it with cherrywood smoke for an outstanding flavour combination. The smoking takes place in the UK where a special process to filter smoke from cherrywood has been developed. The filtration removes acridity and other impurities, which results in a greater flavour clarity and smoothness to the finished tea.

  • Cultivar - Da Ye and Yun Kang #10

Tried it first at Brown’s Hotel in London

Afternoon tea at Brown’s is special no matter the occasion, but my waiter said I must try the new smoked Yunnan tea, and I had never had a smoked tea before. I absolutely loved it. Such great aroma and smooth taste with just a little sweetness. all over until I found this online store that had it and I’m so glad because it is exactly what I remember. It’s very indulgent and very unique. I’m sharing with all my friends.

Very nice but doesn’t replace proper lapsang

I really really miss good lapsang tea there a couple of companies that do ok loose tea. When I was sent and email from jing saying they had a new cherry wood smoked lapsang I was straight onto the web site to buy some. It is a lovely tea and will enjoy it but is not the same as a proper smoked lapsang tea. It is slightly too fruity to be a true flavour but it is still a wonderful tea and I will enjoy drinking it black. It is a nice easy drinking experience but not the same. If you are like me having drunk lapsing tea since before you were out of nappies then it won’t hit quite the spot. I would still recommend it as another flavour to enjoy.

    Smoky, smooth, sublime

A wonderful combination of smokiness and smoothness unlike so many lapsangs which can have bitter notes. Love it and have already bought my second pack!
