Complex, non-transparent supply chains dominate the tea industry, contributing to unfair, unsustainable practices, and generic taste. This doesn’t have to be the case. Our aim is to ensure:
We source directly through close relationships with inspiring tea producers, paying a fair price for their distinctive, ‘better’ teas and look to champion farming techniques that promote biodiversity.
Tea producers are supported, we get to know each producer and the special, unique stories behind their passion and craft and consumers are able to enjoy truly special teas, opening their eyes to how distinctive and inspiring tea can be.
Firstly we look to prove that our direct sourcing model works. Tackling social and environmental issues through traceable tea, championing our producers, creating long term, strong partnerships and paying a fair price.
To really change the system however we need to change peoples perceptions. Educating consumers about where there tea is coming from, who is crafting it and the sustainable practices that have gone in to making it, can bring to life its full value.
We’ll do this through our tea trainings, events and campaigns, and by collaborating with others who have the same mission.
We believe that by following our sourcing principles we can address some of the human rights and environmental issues commonly found in tea.
Ensuring a fair price and supporting a living wage, can address poverty and poor working environments. By giving fair terms, fostering long term relationships and championing their craft we can empower our producers to adopt ethical and environmentally friendly practices. By supporting our tea communities we can tackle engrained social issues. Lastly by fostering regenerative and organic practices we can help produce great tasting, healthy tea.
We look to optimise and preserve natural resources, reduce our carbon emissions, nurture biodiversity and increase the resilience of all associated with our tea.
