Gyokuro

玉露

The Asahina Valley of Shizuoka prefecture is an area summed up by its name, which translates as 'tranquil hills'. The Gyokuro produced here combines the quality and excellence that we prioritise and celebrate along with our partner farmers. For thirty days before picking in early May, the leaves are nurtured beneath the shade of dark netting, known as tana. This traditional technique creates an unmistakable, umami-rich character in the tea leaves and is highly prized throughout Japan.

    Gyokuro

Gyokuro with no doubt is the best green tea I have ever tried.
I love the taste, color, and smell. I like the shape of the tea and how it became in the teapot, it's like a little jungle.
    Will reorder for sure!

    Gyokuro Green Tea

The best Japanese green tea I've ever tried. Better than the Matcha or Sencha. Refreshing and mildly sweet after taste.

    Perfect

I've come to gyokuro comparatively late; when I started being a tea-nut, I began with Chinese teas (and with Jing!). wasn't too curious about Japanese teas, I'm ashamed to say - and thought gyokuro might be a bit of a challenge (water temperature, etc.) couldnt have been more wrong! it's a pleasure to brew - beautiful tight deep emerald green leaves (like crushed jewels) unfold and become bright green in infusion. Flavour fresh, vibrant - and green (again the word!) - a lovely contrast to other teas in flavour and appearance. Fits beautifully into a range of options and does well with multiple infusions. So happy I've found it! "

IMVHAUSO this is as good as the Ultimate All Singing Gyokoro (you know the one i mean). For a start the price is far more affordable and it becomes a daily tea (kinda). The main differences i find between this and the supreme is mainly down to the umami and the colour. Infused leaves of the supreme look better in the pot than the standard, hands down they are stunning. Controversially the umami is better on the cheaper one (I'm likely to be laughed out of court here). All in all a stunning tea which manages to satisfy every quintissentialy Japanese tea trait you would expect.
