Caffeine was never a huge concern when I started getting into tea a few years ago. I knew the tea I was drinking had some caffeine, but at the time, I was more excited about discovering the flavours and new tastes of teas and exploring the places and cultures they came from. However, it was inevitable after a time that I wanted to know more about the science behind the leaves – why do specific origins or cultivars produce particular tastes? Eventually, the question of caffeine began to fill my mind: was it having any impact on what I was tasting, on me, and how much was I really consuming?

Three years ago, we set out to transform our range by moving primarily to organically sourced teas. We set the ambitious target of 80% of our teas to be certified organic or Made Without Pesticides by the end of 2022.

As is iconic for Dragon Well, the leaves resemble pressed spears and are traditionally panfired.

It’s our third batch from Shentang. Each year Shentang Wen, our Organic Dragon Well Supreme producer, consistently crafts an excellent dragon well tea with the distinctive warm chestnut-like aromas, creamy texture, and sweet spring green freshness we are looking for. It's this combination that makes this tea so special and one of our favourite spring green teas.

Fresh from the gardens of Tumsong comes the 2023 batch of our Organic Darjeeling First Flush Supreme. We’re proud to say that we’re always first to bring First Flush Darjeeling to market in the UK every year, and this year’s batch was grown especially for JING by the brilliant Naresh Pareek – a tea maker who knew exactly what we were looking for and produced just that.

As spring arrives and the weather warms, I find myself gravitating towards the refreshing and vibrant flavours of Japanese green teas. These teas, with their bright colours and complex tastes, perfectly capture the essence of the season.
