Fruity Tea FAQs

  • What is fruity tea?

Fruity tea is tea or an infusion with natural notes of berries, stone fruit or tropical fruit, whether they come from the leaf itself or from added botanicals. Our fruity teas reveal layers of natural sweetness without compromising the integrity of the leaf. Our journal guide, What Is Fruity Tea?, explains more.
  • Does fruity tea contain real fruit?

It depends on the tea. Blackcurrant & Hibiscus is a herbal infusion made from blackcurrant and hibiscus, while the grape note in Darjeeling Empyrean comes from the leaf itself, shaped by garden and season. Both are natural. Our herbal tea collection shows more botanical infusions.
  • Does hibiscus tea have caffeine?

No. Hibiscus is a flower, so a hibiscus infusion is naturally caffeine-free. Not every fruity tea is, though: Darjeeling, Assam Gold and Jasmine Silver Needle all come from the tea plant and contain caffeine. Our guide to hibiscus tea explains what makes it so vibrant.
  • Are fruity teas naturally sweet?

Many are, with no sugar needed. The sweetness comes from the leaf or botanicals, such as the honeyed warmth of Darjeeling First Flush. If you prefer a deeper, rounder sweetness, our sweet teas lean towards honey, caramel and milk chocolate notes.
