Organic Darjeeling First Flush Supreme Black Tea

The Origin Story

We spent the early Spring 2019 at some of the world's most famous tea estates in Darjeeling with our partner growers and master tea makers to look for an exceptional batch of first flush tea.

Darjeeling’s climate is unlike any other tea-producing region in the world. The cooler, drier atmosphere effects how the tea plants grow and how they’re processed, resulting in the unique, delicate and floral flavour that’s made Darjeeling tea so highly prized.

Created exclusively for JING, this small batch of Organic Darjeeling First Flush Supreme is an exceptionally fresh tea that has been carefully selected to truly express the finest and rarest features Darjeeling has to offer. Beautifully fragrant with warm, floral aromas it gives way to a taste that has complete clarity of honeysuckle, with a sweet mouthfeel, light astringency and rich texture.

India - Darjeeling

Darjeeling, at the base of the Himalayas, produces uniquely fragrant black teas

Badamtam is one of the region’s most scenic estates with views of the Kanchenjunga mountains and a 14-foot high bronze statue of the Buddha sitting as a guardian of peace over the vistas of tea bushes. The garden – well over 1,000 - metres above sea level - was planted in 1858 by Christine Barnes. The Rangeet and Majhitar rivers flow through the green hills and valleys, which harbour a profusion of birds and flowers.

I'm new to real Darjeeling having always believed it to be a far darker, smokier tea than this light, fragrant long leafed first flush. Amber nectar, with peach and floral overtones. Refreshing afternoon tea but also delicious brewed and left to chill. I made a second pot from the once-brewed leaves, which I steeped in fresh fruits for a few hours and served ice cold.
